About
Mr. Sam Shin was born in South Korea and raised in Toronto, Canada. He earned a joint specialist in English and Linguistics at the University of Toronto, where he developed a passion for Curriculum Development and Pedagogy.
Sam worked as a licensed teacher and curriculum development researcher in Ontario before being drawn to study law to make policy changes that would impact positive change in the world. He enrolled at the David A. Clarke School of Law and was quickly swept into the fold that is law and the U.S.
During law school, Sam worked in the General Practice Clinic and the D.C. Law Students in Court Clinic (Crimmigration) gaining invaluable experience advocating for the most vulnerable individuals in society. Sam also contributed to the improvement of the D.C. Court system by submitting proposals on how to boost efficiency for day-to-day operations at the D.C. Superior Court.
After law school, Sam honed his skills to become a Civil Rights attorney and litigator, becoming an ESI specialist along the way. Upon becoming licensed, Sam has worked in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia courts.
Upon passing the Virginia Bar, Sam joined WLG as a civil litigator in the Family division, working as a Guardian Ad Litem, and as a Criminal Defense attorney in Prince William County and other neighboring counties.
Sam practice areas include personal injury; landlord-tenant matters; contract formation and disputes; wills & trusts; bankruptcy; civil litigation; immigration; business formation; property damage; family law (education, GAL, divorce, custody); collections; employment law; copyright/trademarks; criminal defense;
Sam’s hobby is to learn new skills, with a growing list of random and fun skills he’s acquired over the years (latest: solve a Rubik’s cube). He enjoys spending time with creative outlets of music, video/photography, and writing, as well as baking, cooking, serving triple-b (barista/bartending/bubbletea), riding his KTM Superduke 990, playing sports, playing Starcraft, playing board-games, traveling, and serving at the church he attends in Centreville, Virginia.
